Jurgen Klopp makes 'strange' Nottingham Forest comment about Liverpool match

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described his side's defeat to Nottingham Forest as "a strange game" during a pre-match press conference ahead of the club's Champions League match against Ajax.

Forest shocked Liverpool at the City Ground over the weekend to put an end to their momentum after back-to-back Premier League wins against Manchester City and West Ham United. Despite the result, Klopp was short on praise for the host's performance and rather lamented the "six clear chances" that his side missed.

Since then Ajax head coach Alfred Schreuder has also agreed with Klopp, stating: “Of course, they lost to Nottingham Forest, but could also have won, 4-1 or 5-1.” At his own presser, Klopp has once again explained that injuries are affecting the consistency of their performances.

“We see the performances, and they’re not as stable and consistent as they were; that’s clear,” Klopp admitted. “Explanations for that – injuries a little bit. We couldn’t put in so far consistent performances; that’s the point we know.

“But we were now actually in a good moment until we lost against Nottingham Forest, in a strange game, with a lot of problems for us – some players were injured, some were not allowed to play but were there, let me say it like this. Then you play against a deep defending side, and you lose a game after a set-piece which we should win.”
