Jurgen Klopp makes Champions League rule change claim ahead of Liverpool v Inter Milan

Jurgen Klopp doesn't believe UEFA scrapping the away goals rule will have an impact on his Liverpool side as they prepare to face Inter Milan in the Champions League round-of-16 on Wednesday night.

The Reds travel to the San Siro for their first leg with the Serie A giants knowing there will be no added boost from scoring in Italy after the rule was scrapped at the start of the season.

Klopp has admitted he was a fan of the rule and is sorry to see it scrapped, but insists his side would always try to win the game in front of them regardless.

"We can say more about that after the two games," he said. "I can't remember a game where we went somewhere and thought at least a goal would be great.

"We go there to get a result, whatever it means. I don't know what will be a good result at the moment. Winning would be great, maybe a draw we would have to take.

"I don't know, we will see. First of all we have to play the game. I actually liked the rule, even as a supporter before. Long in my life I have watched Champions League rather than being part of it. I liked the rule, I don't know why they scrapped it.

"It's now gone and it's all okay, we will deal with that. I don't think it is a massive impact on the way we'll play.

"We don't go there to somehow get through the game. We try to play our best game and to win it, but that is really difficult."
