Jurgen Klopp explains special guest Alisson invited to lift trophy with Liverpool squad

Jurgen Klopp has explained who the youngster was who joined Liverpool as they lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley.

The Reds claimed the League Cup for a ninth time after they beat Thomas Tuchel’s side on penalties at the home of English football.

After over 120 minutes of action, neither side could be separated with the destination of this season’s Carabao Cup decided by a penalty shootout.

Both sides were impressive from the spot as the first 20 penalties of the shootout were all coolly dispatched.

That meant that it fell to both goalkeepers to keep the game alive.

Caoimhin Kelleher coolly dispatched his spot kick before Kepa Arrizabalaga missed.

The Chelsea goalkeeper, who was brought on for the shootout, blazed over from 12-yards to spark wild celebrations from the Reds.

And as Klopp and his men climbed the famous steps of Wembley to receive the trophy they were joined by a youngster.

The child in question then got his hands on the trophy as Liverpool’s players celebrated before he returned to the stands.

And when asked about the youngster's appearance during the trophy lift, Klopp revealed he was brought over by Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

“Ali brought him over and his dad was shouting, ‘let him touch the trophy’,” the Liverpool manager told Sky Sports.

While the Reds boss added on his side’s win: “I'm fine now but I would have been fine with 90 minutes and 1-0 to Liverpool and we go home.

“I am happy for the people in dark times to celebrate something like this. We have to work hard. We play on Wednesday again, which I cannot believe now.

"We will give it a try. It is a home game and it will be rocking because of tonight."
