Jurgen Klopp has revealed his contract discussions with James Milner centred around the player's involvement moving forward but the German emphatically insisted - "we don’t limit".
The Liverpool midfielder penned a new deal that will keep him at Anfield ahead of his 37th birthday in January. Milner headed to Merseyside in 2015 after leaving Manchester City on a free transfer and has gone on to claim domestic and European honours whilst playing a pivotal role as one of the squad's leaders.
Last term he made 39 appearance for Liverpool, but his advancing years have raised questions over his level of future involvement in Klopp's plans. As a result, Milner sought assurances about his role going forward, especially with new recruits likely coming in.
