Jurgen Klopp delivers verdict on Arsenal vs Sevilla and makes Chelsea and Tottenham predictions

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has labelled Arsenal's victory over Sevilla in pre-season "impressive" and says Chelsea and Tottenham will be battling to make sure it's a tough season for the Premier League title contenders.

The German coach was speaking ahead of the FA Community Shield final on his competitors for this season's Premier League trophy and all three big London clubs got a mention. Arsenal have signed a variety of players this summer with Gabriel Jesus looking the pick of the bunch. The Gunners have a positive pre-season record ahead of their opening night clash at Selhurst Park, with Jesus netting seven goals in five games..

Tottenham have also fared very well in pre-season as Antonio Conte looks to bed in his six summer recruits ahead of their opening day affair at home to an unsettled Southampton side. Meanwhile, it's been a lot shakier at Chelsea with their 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Gunners in the United States leading to manager Thomas Tuchel launching an 'urgent appeal' for more quality players that was sent the way of Todd Boehly.

However, the mood in the west Londoners' camp was very much improved on Friday night by their third pre-season win against Udinese as new signing Sterling netted in a 3-1 victory at the Dacia Arena. With the Blues likely to make more additions before the September 1 deadline, all three London clubs are in promising shape ahead of the new campaign and Klopp reflected on the battle in his assessment of the three clubs prior to the FA Community Shield.

"That’s over, that was last year, two years ago" Klopp said to ITV in relation to the Man City and Liverpool's dominance of the Premier League over the last few seasons.

"Arsenal, I saw the result but pretty impressive 6-0 or whatever against Sevilla I don’t think that ever happened to be honest. Chelsea will come or is there already, Tottenham improved a lot so it will be a tough, tough season. But we are here as well, we don’t want to rest on what we achieved or not achieved in the last years, we are ready for the new challenge and that’s all."

If Klopp's words are to be proved true in the months ahead, one of Mikel Arteta, Tuchel or Conte will have to do the impossible task in trying to break the axis in the Premier League title race that has been the same since Spurs' coach won the Premier League title in SW6 with the Blues back in 2016/17.
