Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided a more detailed verdict on his clash with referee Paul Tierney in Tottenham's defeat to Liverpool over the weekend. Following the spectacular 4-3 win by his side, Klopp spoke about his latest incident with the 42-year-old which saw him booked.
"We have our history with Tierney," Klopp said to Sky Sports on Sunday. "I really don't know what he has against us. He has said there [are] no problems but that cannot be true. How he looks at me, I don't understand it. In England nobody has to clarify these situations, it's really tricky and hard to understand. What he said to me when he gave me the yellow card is not OK."
That same evening the PGMOL then released a statement detailing that they "strongly refute" the claims made by Klopp. Ahead of the weekend action, the decision was then made by the Premier League to remove Tierney from an on-pitch role which sees him instead assigned to the roles of fourth official and Video Assistant.

Ahead of Liverpool taking on Fulham in the Premier League on Wednesday, and following the Premier League's decision, Klopp was again asked about the incident.
"Whole situation shouldn't have happened, a lot of emotion, anger in that moment, that's why I celebrated why I did," he said, via Liverpool Echo. "That was the situation, the 'no foul' on Mo. Free-kick for Spurs then the goal. Then we score. I should be happy but I was still angry
"I couldn't get close to the 4th official, I felt my muscle. That's it. Then we Paul Tierney came over to me, I didn't expect a red. I expected yellow. He said to me: 'For me it's red but because of him (4th), it's yellow.' I said 'red card for what?
"I went in, tried to calm down and couldn't when I spoke to press. Then I said that what he said was 'not OK'. I thought it wasn't OK because it wasn't a red but I opened the box with that. I should've just said he said it was a red card. Rest was how I felt at that moment."
"I know Paul Tierney is not doing this on purpose, absolutely not but we have this history. It hasn't happened intentionally but it's still there, that's the feeling. The refs are really angry about what I said, they say I was lying now. I didn't lie."
Klopp then went on to reveal he was yet to hear from the PGMOL regarding a possible punishment but that "expects" to receive one soon.
"I shouldn't have said what I said but I didn't lie. It's not my hands what goes on now.," he added. "We won a game 4-3 in a spectacular manner and only headlines I created [were negative]. We expect a reaction because everyone tells us something (punishment) will come."
"I probably have to expect a punishment. Refs think I questioned their integrity which if I am sitting here now calm, I don't do. The red card v City was the same spot and player, Mo Salah involved."
