Jurassic Park child star Joseph Mazzello is unrecognisable almost 30 years after he appeared in the hit film.
The 1993 action adventure, directed by Steven Spielberg, has grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office since it was released, and has spawned several sequels, including The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and the hugely successful Jurassic World film series.
Joseph shot to fame when he landed the role of inquisitive youngster Tim Murphy, who was the grandson of Jurassic Park’s eccentric owner, Dr. Richard Hammond, who was played by the late screen icon Richard Attenborough.
In the movie, Tom and his big sister Lex - played by Ariana Richards - were almost killed by hungry dinosaurs as they tried to escape the prehistoric carnivores running loose on the Costa Rican island with the help of Sam Neill’s character, Dr. Alan Grant.
Jurassic Park, which also starred Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, catapulted the young actors to worldwide superstardom, and kickstarted their careers in Hollywood.
Almost 30 years after the groundbreaking dinosaur movie was released, Joseph has enjoyed a moderately successful career in the movie industry during the 1990s, and after Jurassic Park, he went on to appear in Shadowlands and The River Wild, alongside Meryl Streep.
After taking a break from Hollywood, Joseph studied cinematic arts at the University of Southern California, and was accepted into the educational institution thanks to a recommendation from Steven Spielberg himself.
Following his graduation from university, Joseph restarted his acting career, and went on to star in the crime drama series CSI in 2003, and also appeared in the 2004 horror movie The Hollow, alongside Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter and Kaley Cuoco, as well as the HBO show The Pacific.
In 2010, he bagged a role on David Fincher’s critically-acclaimed The Social Network, playing Dustin Moskovitz, who was one of the co-founders of Facebook along with Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, and Chris Hughes.
Joseph also starred in the 2018 musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, in which he played Queen bassist John Deacon, alongside Rami Malek as frontman Freddie Mercury, who also scooped an Oscar for his performance.
Joseph has since launched his own YouTube channel, called JoeMazzelloIsBored, and was recently spotted at the No Time To Die premiere in London, as well as the US Open, where he was enjoying the tennis with Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper and former co-star Rami Malek.
