After Dwayne Johnson and his safari-trekking crew took not one, but two trips inside the magical game of Jumanji, it was only a matter of time before things would get wild and go back to their jungle roots, which were first planted in 1995. The new trailer for Jumanji: Open World looks to pick up right after the events of Jumanji: The Next Level, where another round of the dangerous game busts out into the real world, bringing the same dangers that Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst had to face all those years ago.
Playing around with gameplay mechanics once again are Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black, who are reprising their roles as the avatars of the game. Unfortunately, with them being thrown into the real world, they’re able to roam free like the rest of the dangerous wildlife of Jumanji. Joining them on this new adventure are Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Danny DeVito, who are now tasked with rounding up the heroes of Jumanji and getting them back to where they belong.
While that’s all happening, there’s also the matter of agitated ostriches, dodging a bathroom-wrecking rhino, and making sure all the avatars hold onto as many lives as possible. That’s all before they get back into the jungle and a new quartet of players takes over our heroes for one last time.
Jake Kasdan, who has been in the director’s chair for the last two movies, will remain seated for this one too, working off a script he co-wrote with writers of Jumanji: The Next Level, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Supporting stars also set to return include Marin Hinkle, Lamorne Morris, Rhys Darby and Nick Jonas.
