Former WBC World Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has revealed he has been approached regarding a potential fight in 2025 with Jake Paul.

Fresh off the back of his victory over boxing legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, the chat surround Jake Paul’s next fight is rife. The American may not be particularly popular amongst boxing fans, but he is one of the biggest stars in the sport whether people like it or not.
With that in mind, every Jake Paul fight seems to attract millions of eyeballs. His latest fight against Mike Tyson reportedly broke all viewing records, with streaming platform Netflix revealing the Paul vs Tyson event garnered over 108 million viewers worldwide.
Now, it already seems progress is being made for Jake Paul’s next fight in 2025. It is likely ‘The Problem Child’ will return in the first half of next year, with various fighters throwing their name into the hat to secure that big pay-day.
One of those fighters is former WBC World Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The son of the Mexican boxing legend made a name for himself in his own right, becoming a legitimate world champion at 160-pounds back in 2011. Chavez Jr then defended his belt three times before losing it to legend Sergio Martinez.
Since then, the Mexican has had a stop-start career, and more recently has been seen competing in crossover fights against former UFC fighters. Anderson Silva, a man Paul has already defeated, actually beat Chavez Jr via split decision back in 2021.
However, Chavez Jr has since bounced back with two wins over David Zegarra and Urijah Hall. Now, the former world champion has confirmed that he is in contention to face Jake Paul in his next fight.

Could Jake Paul Fight A Former Bona Fide World Champion In 2025?
Although he has been scrutinised and heavily criticised for his matchmaking and recent fights, fighting a legitimate former world champion would certainly silence a few of the loud Jake Paul doubters.
Although Julio Cesar Chavez Jr lost his title over 12 years ago, he has been in the ring with world class fighters. Chavez Jr knocked out Irishman Andy Lee in his last world title victory, as well as sharing the ring with the likes of Daniel Jacobs, Sergio Martinez and a few other names.
It must also be noted that Chavez Jr went the distance with the great Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, who many regard as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of the 21st century. If Jake Paul were to fight and beat Chavez Jr better than ‘Canelo‘ did, that would get people talking.
“I’d be interested in fighting a champion, but fighting Jake Paul, for the fame and the media, would put me in a position to fight against others. I’m not looking for it, it’s been presented. It’s not concrete, but let’s see what happens,” Chavez Jr revealed in a recent interview with TUDN MEX.
Time will tell if ‘The Problem Child’ does face a legitimate former world champion in his next fight or not. If he does, and wins, that would be a huge statement from one of the most talked about and controversial professional boxers today.
