Tottenham have hit a problem in their talks with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann regarding the vacant managerial position. Spurs have sacked Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini in the last month with Ryan Mason now in charge as interim head coach until the end of the season.
Tottenham have stumbled in their pursuit of a top four spot this season after picking up just one point in their last four Premier League fixtures. Nagelsmann had been linked with the Chelsea job but pulled out of the running after having concerns over the Blues' recruitment strategy.
Daniel Levy is considering a number of candidates ahead of next season as he looks to stabilise the club after a chaotic few months. With that said, here's a look at the latest on Nagelsmann and a potential switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Director of football issue in talks with Nagelsmann
The uncertainty surrounding Spurs' sporting director role to work with the next managerial appointment have led to a problem rising during talks between the two parties.
The former Bayern Munich boss was on Tottenham’s shortlist to succeed Antonio Conte as their next permanent head coach. Nagelsmann pulled out of the running for the vacant Chelsea managerial position after concerns over the Blues' recruitment strategy and it is understood that knowing who will be leading recruitment and strategy is an important part of his decision.
A report from The Telegraph has outlined the problem facing Levy as talks continue with Nagelsmann over the vacant managerial position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The German had been on Levy’s radar before he joined Bayern and the report adds that Spurs' wage budget is a potential issue too, as Nagelsmann would be in the market for the higher earners above the club’s expectations.
Spurs have looked at alternative options to the 35-year-old which include Feyenoord manager Arne Slot. Levy is dealing with a number of spinning plates at the moment whilst performances on the pitch have failed to improve after a late defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.
Conte leaves Spurs by mutual agreement
Tottenham confirmed Conte had left the club in a statement released on Sunday evening. It read: "We can announce that head coach Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.
"Cristian Stellini will take the team as acting head coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as assistant head coach."
Daniel Levy said: “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
Nagelsmann stance
Former Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann is open to talks with Tottenham over replacing Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports. However, the report does suggest he may seek a short period of reflection before returning to management.
Spurs admiration
Nagelsmann has previously gone on record to speak of his admiration of Spurs in the past. "[I've followed Tottenham closely] since Pochettino was there," he said during his RB Leipzig days.
"He's a really good manager, his team was great to watch."
Playing style revealed
If Nagelsmann were to take the role in north London, what sort of play style would he play? Speaking to the Telegraph in 2021, he insisted that entertaining fans was a No. 1 priority, saying: "Winning is what matters and winning is entertaining.
“I never want to change my offensive and attacking football because I love it and I love it when the fans have an emotional time in the stadium. So I will not change this. But if there is a time when I cannot win like this then I will have to change.”
Nagelsmann eyed
The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham are set to monitor developments over the situation at Bayern Munich with links over a swoop for Nagelsmann. The report adds that Spurs have previously eyed the coach for a role in the past, but the opportunity to make the jump has arisen again.
Tuchel impact
Thomas Tuchel has been linked with a move to Tottenham as a potential successor to Conte, however that is now unlikely. That's because the former Chelsea boss will take over at Bayern as manager as a result of Nagelsmann's dismissal during the international break.
Bayern decision
Bayern Munich have made the decision to dismiss manager Julian Nagelsmann. It comes as the German champions sit second in the Bundesliga, one point from top. Nagelsmann had guided his side through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, however.
