Julian Nagelsmann has one clear demand of Daniel Levy to become Tottenham's next manager

Julian Nagelsmann is interested in becoming Tottenham's next manager but he has one key question Daniel Levy must answer for him to take the role. The former Bayern Munich head coach was surprisingly sacked from his position at Allianz Arena in March despite losing just three games in the 2022/23 season.

Nonetheless, Bayern's decision could be to Spurs' benefit as there is a real chance Nagelsmann could be the heir to Antonio Conte after also pulling himself out of the running to be Chelsea's next manager. The decision facing Levy over who he chooses to appoint permanently is vast as Spurs remain in turmoil with a Champions League qualification spot looking impossible to achieve.

At the weekend, Spurs continued their recent trend of falling behind early on, in fact at half time of their last three games they have been trailing by a combined score of 10-1. The latest blow to those top four hopes came against Liverpool with Diogo Jota settling a seven-goal thriller deep into added time after Richarlison thought he had secured an unlikely point, considering Spurs were 3-0 down after 15 minutes, with his first Premier League goal for the club.

Although interim boss Ryan Mason has helped steady improvements take place, the need for a permanent manager is abundantly clear. An appointment before the end of the season seems unlikely but Spurs have several names on their wish list.

Alongside Nagelsmann, Vincent Kompany, Arne Slot, Brendan Rodgers and several other notable names are also being considered. Bringing in the 35-year-old German coach would be seen as another high profile appointment and based on recent trends, it is very unclear whether Levy can offer what Nagelsmann would be demanding.

One of those requests seems to be in the transfer market with Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg claiming Nagelsmann “wants to know what role” he will have in Tottenham's transfer business. Managing director Fabio Paratici handled the bulk of the business but his resignation makes it extremely unclear who is making the decisions.

Perhaps aware of that, Nagelsmann could use it to his advantage in negotiations ensuring he has a significant say as to who comes in and out of the club.
