Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui has sent a firm transfer message to Liverpool amid continued speculation linking Matheus Nunes with a move to Anfield.
As reported by the ECHO on Tuesday morning, the Reds are continuing to explore their midfield options with Nunes under consideration. The Portugal international only joined the Molineux club last summer in a £44m deal from Sporting CP.
Nunes, who has only completed 90 minutes once since September, has made 14 appearances for Wolves so far this season. His latest one came during Saturday’s home defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League.

The ECHO understands that Liverpool 's interest in Nunes has been described as 'long standing' and the Reds did assess the merits of the 24-year-old last term during his final season in Portugal's Primeira Liga.
But when asked about the speculation on Tuesday afternoon, Lopetegui said: “We can say that Matheus is our player, he’s a Wolves player and he’s so happy to be here”.
Liverpool could come up against Nunes at the weekend with the Reds set to host Wolves in the third round of the FA Cup. Before that, Lopetegui’s side take on Aston Villa at Villa Park as they look to move out of the relegation places.
