Back in January, our Meghan L. Hall wrote that while USC’s JuJu Watkins wasn’t Caitlin Clark, she wasn’t far behind the Iowa superstar.
Watkins proved just that on Friday in a USC win over No. 4 Stanford: She dropped 51 points (the most this season by any player) to go along with 11 boards, four steals and six threes. An astounding performance!
After the game, Watkins was informed that she had scored the most of anyone this year before a joking “Caitlin Clark who?”
Even if it was said with a wink, Watkins wouldn’t go there.
“Ah, nah, don’t do that. Don’t do that, much respect there,” she said with a laugh.
