'Judicial system should believe victims first', activist says after body found in missing girl case

Outrage has erupted in France after it emerged that the main suspect in the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl, missing since last week, had been repeatedly accused of sexually abusing children, with no apparent action taken by the authorities. A body was discovered on Thursday, and formal identification was under way. Speaking to FRANCE 24's Sharon Gaffney, Mié Kohiyama, co-president of Be Brave France, said the case highlights the need for the justice system to take allegations more seriously. "The judicial system should first listen to and believe victims and survivors," she said.
