A federal judge has upheld New York’s "Green Light Law," dismissing a challenge from the Trump administration that sought to prevent the state from issuing driver's licenses to individuals without proof of legal residency.
US District Judge Anne M. Nardacci, sitting in Albany, ruled that the Republican administration, which had contested the legislation as part of Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, failed to substantiate its claims. The judge found no evidence that the state law either usurps federal authority or unlawfully discriminates against the federal government.
