Jude Bellingham was faced with questions surrounding England team-mate Harry Kane during his Real Madrid unveiling on Thursday morning.
The teenage midfield sensation is the latest expensive addition to the Los Blancos squad, with the Spanish giants forking out an intial £88million to bring the former Borussia Dortmund man to the Santiago Bernabeu. That fee could rise beyond £100m if certain add-ons are met.
While the majority of his first press conference as a Real Madrid player was focused on topics like what made him opt for the 14-time European Champions, Bellingham did have to address the speculation linking Tottenham talisman Kane with a switch to the Spanish capital of his own.
"As far as the Harry Kane rumours, you know I can't comment on that, he is a world class player, he is my captain for the national team and I love him as a player and as a person," Bellingham explained.
"Whatever happens there happens, but it's not really for me to comment about."
It was a similar story in terms of Kylian Mbappe, another player Bellingham was asked to discuss amid reports the Frenchman could finally be on his way after multiple windows of relentless speculation.

"I can't really comment, I don't know his situation," Bellingham added when pressed for comment on Real Madrid's links with Mbappe. "If anything, my whole saga has taught me that not everything you see is true.
"He's a great player, whatever he chooses to do, all the best to him. Would I like to play with a player like Kylian Mbappe? Who wouldn't?"
Bellingham went on to discuss how his motivation for joining the LaLiga titans came purely from a place of footballing ambition rather than any sort of financial incentive.
"Money is not that important to me, I never think about money when I make these types of decisions," he said, per Marca. "Football is the sport that I love. I loved the feeling that Real Madrid gives off and I spoke with Borussia so that everything was fast.
"What has impressed me the most has been during the signing, being in the room with the 14 European Cups. They have made me want to win one."
There's every chance Bellingham fulfils that ambition of winning the Champions League without Kane, but both he and those at the top of the Real Madrid hierarchy would be united in their agreement that it would be a task made easier with the 29-year-old leading the line.
