Liverpool were linked with a number of players throughout the course of the World Cup in Qatar.
The tournament in the Middle East saw the Reds credited with an interest in several players who starred for their countries. And Liverpool have already completed the signing of one star who impressed in Qatar.
Cody Gakpo has arrived from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth an initial fee of £37 million, with add-ons taking the move to more than £40m. He could make his Premier League bow against Brighton on Saturday, after his official debut in the draw with Wolves at the weekend.

A report from SportingPedia has revealed how the transfer values of certain players have changed following their involvement in the World Cup. Some of these players include the likes of Sofyan Amrabat, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister and Jude Bellingham, all of whom have been linked with Liverpool.
The article also talks about Gakpo’s reported transfer value, which has increased by 33% following his involvement in Qatar. Starting out at a valuation of €45m (£40m), Gakpo’s market value has risen up to €60m (£53m).
Bellingham is another player whose value has increased. Starting with a value of €100m (£88.5m), that has now risen by 10% up to €110m (£97m).
Amrabat has also been linked with Liverpool, having impressed with Morocco to reach the semi-final. The Fiorentina midfielder’s valuation has risen by 150% from €10m (£8.8m) up to £22m.
Fellow midfielders Mac Allister and Fernandez have also seen their values increase following Argentina winning the World Cup. The latter was also named the Young Player of the Tournament in Qatar.
Mac Allister’s valuation has increased by 31%, from €32m (£28m) up to €42m (£37m). Fernandez has seen a 57% increase from €35m (£31m) up to €55m (£48m).
