JSP will stand by fishermen in fight against auction of fish tanks: Pawan Kalyan

Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Pawan Kalyan has promised the fisher folks that he will stand by them in their fight against G.O. 217, through which the government seeks to put fish tanks on open auction

“I am prepared to go to jail for their cause,” Mr. Pawan said while addressing a gathering of the fishermen community at Narsapur in West Godavari on Sunday.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan said no State had issued such a G.O. “But the Jagan Mohan Reddy government proposes to auction the fish tanks starting with a pilot project in Nellore district without pondering over the consequences for the fishermen community,” he alleged.

He said various assurances given to them were confined to rhetoric. The housing scheme announced for fishermen and women had come to a grinding halt, and the cyclone shelters were not being built.

“If the government does not cancel the G.O., the JSP will scrap it within seven days of coming to power. We will again meet on March 14 on the occasion of our party’s foundation day and discuss how to dislodge this undemocratic regime,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said.

The JSP chief further said that the government created a fear psychosis among various sections by implicating those questioning its failures in false cases. “The JSP will not be cowed down by such threats,” he said.

Politics of vengeance would not be tolerated, he asserted, demanding that the government fulfill its commitments to the people, especially the fisher folks, who were considered the poorest of the poor. Rather than solving problems, the government was creating them, he added.
