A journalist from Romania who had multiple encounters with the man detained in connection with an alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Ukraine expressed surprise at the individual's involvement in the incident. The journalist first met the individual, identified as Ryan Routh, in Kyiv's Independence Square in June of 2022. At that time, Routh was actively rallying people to join the foreign legion or support Ukraine through humanitarian aid organizations.
During an interview, Routh emphasized his belief in the conflict between good and evil in Ukraine, stating that the situation was clear-cut and not morally ambiguous. A year later, when the journalist crossed paths with Routh again, the individual appeared visibly frustrated by the lack of support for Ukraine.
Routh questioned why more individuals were not present in Kyiv to join the foreign legion and provide assistance. The journalist described Routh as an idealistic and genuine person, expressing disbelief at the turn of events. The journalist characterized the situation as a sad story for the world, the United States, and Routh himself.
