Jota warns Celtic teammates to keep title focus as Rangers goal hero insists 'the job’s not done'

Jota is adamant Celtic will kick-on again against Hearts as they look to tie up the title.

The Portuguese star had his team on the verge of glory with a 12th goal of the season putting Ange Postecoglou ’s men in front against Rangers.

However, despite creating chances to add to their advantage, the hosts had to settle for a point after Fashion Sakala’s leveller.

Despite the failure to kill the game off, Celtic strengthened their position as the summit of the standings by ticking off another game and maintaining their six-point and 19-goal advantage with just three matches remaining.

Jota and his team can move to the brink with a success over Robbie Neilson’s men on home soil on Saturday and the £6 million-rated attacker says the build-up starts now.

He explained: “The job’s not done. We keep on going. We rest and then next week we go again.

“It’s game after game. We know how important the next one is, so we keep on, we don’t give up, we get together the troops and we go into battle next week.”

Jota’s sharp finish from a Daizen Maeda cross handed his team the opportunity to stride nine clear and just about end the race.

But the winger was philosophical afterwards as he told Celtic TV: “It’s always a tough game against Rangers so we tried our best. We wanted to win but, unfortunately, we didn’t.

“Our style of game always aims for goals and pressing and keeping after them, but unfortunately we didn’t score again after the first goal.

“We kept on trying and then we conceded a goal. But the main thing to think about all of this is that we didn’t give up.”
