Jota returns to full Celtic training as star man ready for Livingston return

Jota has been snapped back training with the Celtic squad ahead of a trip to Livingston this weekend.

The winger has been forced to the sidelines after suffering an injury during the Hoops 2-1 win over St Johnstone last month. The Portuguese star came off at half time, with boss Ange Postecoglou citing 'fatigue' as the reasoning. But it was later confirmed that the attacker would be out for key games including Celtic's Premier Sports Cup clash with Motherwell and Champions League group stage game against Shakhtar Donetsk.

But now the 23-year-old could provide his side with a boost after being captured by Celtic TV's YouTube channel looking up to full speed alongside the rest of the squad. Jota was spotted taking part in an individual session last week but looks to have taken the step up leaving it likely he will get the nod from Postecoglou for the visit to to Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday. The winger has also been included in the provisional World Cup squad for Portugal.

Carl Starfelt is also back in action after an injury left him unavailable since Celtic's 4-0 victory over Rangers in September. But the stopper will have to unseat Moritz Jenz if he is to take up a spot in the back line this weekend.

Postecoglou said earlier in the week: “Jota, again, he sort of had his last rehab session today. So, he is expected to start training with us after tomorrow’s game and be available for the weekend.”
