Jota and Celtic are running SCARED of Rangers and latest excuse proves it - Hotline

Jota reckons Scottish football will be tuning into trouble with the introduction of VAR this season.

But the Rangers supporters on the Hotline say the Celtic winger is running scared of replay technology because it will fast forward their team to the title. Alfie Mullin, London, got us started by saying. “Jota said he is anti-VAR. What a surprise, a Celtic player not liking VAR! That's because he knows if VAR was in place last season, Celtic wouldn't have won the league. He's in for a big disappointment this season, when the dodgy decisions don't go Celtic's way and Rangers get their title back!”

Chris Lowe, Yoker, added: “So Jota doesn’t want VAR, imagine that! It means his team will need to play with a straight bat now and not with the selective eye sight of the officials who were instrumental in Celtic winning the league last season. Rangers know how to play with VAR as Europe proved - Celtic on the other hand are in for a shock as it’s a level playing field now.”

Kenny Goff said: “So Jota thinks VAR won't be good for Scottish football? Yeah well him and his Celtic team won’t be getting all the decisions then, that’s what he’s worried about. And Ian Mckendrick chipped in: “The reason Jota doesn't want VAR is because he's one that will be caught out all the time.”

But Bill Lockerbie, Northampton, reckons the Hoops ace is on the button with his call to bin the VAR remote, saying: “Good to hear Jota telling it as it is regarding the introduction of VAR to the Scottish game and the negative effect it will have. Scottish football without the controversy will be like watching cricket on a Sunday afternoon. How will the likes of Kris Boyd cope if VAR has the last and only word?

“Not so much touch-line technology but toenail technology! If our four human officials cant get it right what guarantee the VAR officials will as we’ve already seen in the EPL? Win some, lose some, argue and debate and let's not extract the passion from our game.”

Jota’s signing on a permanent deal brings Celtic’s summer transfer spend to £17.5million but Gary Stevenson Newtonhill, isn’t impressed: “Had to laugh at the Celtic supporter’s claim of a tsunami of signings this year. Two players already there on loan, a goalkeeper on a free transfer from Dundee United and an Argentinian full-back who wants to be like Diego Maradona! Europe's top table will be trembling!”

Celtic fan Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: “Barry Ferguson has in the last few years predicted Rangers will pull in over £100million for Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo, so you can forgive us for taking his latest £55m prediction with a pinch of salt.

“These guys are likely to run their contracts down and Calvin Bassey’s Nigeria performance against Sierra Leone last month will have scouts running a mile.”

Meanwhile, the tributes to Andy Goram continued to pour in.

Gus Murphy, Bellshill, said: “As a Celtic fan all my life this man was the bane of Celtic fans and others for years. His instincts and exceptional ability allowed him to make saves no other goalkeeper could. I know it's a much-abused term but Andy Goram was world class. Sincere sympathy to his family and may he rest in peace.”

Joe Graham, Garrowhill, added: “Rangers were always so fortunate to have great goalkeepers over the years. Peter McCloy, Billy Ritchie, Chris Woods, Stefan Klos to name but a few, with Allan McGregor still topping that list.

“However, for me there can only be one. Andy Goram, known as the Goalie, was simply the best. Rival Celtic supporters will agree as he broke their hearts so often in Old Firm derbies with his outstanding saves. Yes, indeed, a true legend gone but never forgotten. Condolences to all the family and friends.”
