Josko Gvardiol approves Dominik Szoboszlai Liverpool transfer as announcement close

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol has seemingly given his seal of approval as Dominik Szoboszlai closes in on a move to Liverpool.

The Reds triggered Szoboszlai's €70million (£60m) release clause prior to the June 30 deadline and the player has since been spotted arriving by private jet in England to complete a medical assessment.

Such tests are believed to have gone according to plan, with latest updates suggesting the move will be made official today, as Liverpool edge closer to their second signing of the summer.

One individual who appears to have been paying close attention to developments in this transfer is Gvardiol, a team-mate of Szoboszlai at Leipzig. The centre-back liked an Instagram post regarding this £60m switch, at a time whereby there is plenty of speculation regarding his own future.

Gvardiol is understood to be a transfer target for Manchester City and the Croatia international is said to be 'open' to joining Pep Guardiola's side. A Guardian report last week added Leipzig are expected to demand more than £86m for the services of the 21-year-old, who impressed for his country at the World Cup in Qatar.

City may well be leading the race to recruit Gvardiol, though his real destination of choice may well be Anfield. Speaking to Croatian TV channel RTLDanas earlier this year, Gvardiol said: "My dream club? That would definitely be Liverpool. Since I was little, I watched a lot of their matches with my dad. We covered every season in detail. It is a club that has remained in my heart."
