Josip Juranovic explains 'difficult' Celtic months as he battles through 'very tired' barrier with Croatia

Josip Juranovic admits tiredness has kicked in as the Celtic right-back looks forward to a summer break.

The defender played on the opposite side of defence for Croatia against France on Nations League duty this week and starred during a memorable 1-0 win in Paris.

Luka Modric's penalty five minutes into the game proved enough for Zlatko Dalic's men to claim an impressive three points.

After 44 matches during the 2021/22 domestic season and swapping Legia Warszawa for Celtic Park, the 26-year-old will take some rest before the Premiership champions begin their new term.

Juranovic spent some time out with an injury towards the season's end but is back raring to go ahead of the Hoops' assault on the Champions League group stages under Ange Postecoglou.

Happy enough to answer the call of his country, Juranovic says it's time to move on and look forward to a new term after one filled with success ended with four international matches in quick succession.

He told Sport Klub : “At Celtic, I played thirteen games at left-back because our left-back got injured.

"The coach asked me if I could play on the opposite side, and I answered in the affirmative because anything is possible for Croatia.

“Fatigue? I have two difficult months behind me because I was out of action for six and a half weeks due to a hamstring injury.

"I came to the roll call, did two workouts and was immediately on fire for ninety minutes and so on until the end. I’m very tired, but let’s move on.”
