Josie Gibson backs I'm A Celebrity campmate Sam Thompson for This Morning presenter role

Josie Gibson says she would "love" for Sam Thompson to join her as a presenter on This Morning.

The ITV star, 38, recently competed with Thompson on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, which he went on to win, and raved about his "lovely energy".

Gibson - who recently returned to her presenting role - said: "I have seen the rumours that he might be doing something with This Morning and I was like 'Can we please keep him?'"

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she added: "I would love for him to come over to This Morning and be part of the family. He would make such a lovely addition."

Josie Gibson competed with Sam Thompson in the latest series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here (ITV / I'm A Celebrity starts Sunday 19th November, 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX)

A number of names such as Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard have been flying around following the departure of regular host Holly Willoughby in October after 14 years on the daytime show.

Although Gibson says she doesn't have any insider knowledge regarding Thompson, she is hoping "the rumours are true".

Meanwhile, Thompson recently returned to his current day job as a host on Hits Radio following his stint in the Australian jungle.

He was met with a hero's welcome for his first day back, with excited colleagues greeting the former Made In Chelsea star with confetti cannons, banners and a Colin the Caterpillar cake.

Thompson clearly couldn’t believe the welcome home party and said: ‘This is the greatest thing ever! Thank you so much – I love this, I don’t want this to stop! I can’t believe it. That was the coolest thing ever! We’re back baby!"
