Josh Windass sends ex-Rangers pal Ross McCrorie 'love it' message after England move with challenge set

Josh Windass has welcomed Ross McCrorie to England with a 'love it' message and is ready for a 'foot race' challenge.

The former Rangers star - who has most recently been plying his trade at Aberdeen - has made the switch to the English Championship for next season with Bristol City after they had an undisclosed fee - reported to be over £2million - accepted for his services.

The former Ibrox team-mates will now go head to head in England's second tier after Windass headed Sheffield Wednesday to promotion glory at Wembley in the most dramatic of circumstances against Barnsley.

Darren Moore's men produced an incredible comeback in the semi-final to make the big all or nothing game and after being level at 90 minutes against their ten man opponents the game headed into extra-time. 30 minutes passed with the game destined for penalties until Windass connected with a cross in the 123rd minute of the game to fire Wednesday up.

His goal sparked wild scenes around the stadium with supporters, players and staff of the Owls going crazy.

Sharing a picture of his Rangers pal in his new kit, Windass wrote: "Love it young man @ross_mccrorie...see you for a foot race next season."

Reflecting on that dramatic winner at Wembley, he previously said: “Goal 16 was a memorable one, we got relegated because of a points deduction.

“We didn’t deserve to be in this league. We fought every day to get back up, high standards and incredible team spirits. The changing room is full of unbelievable people, and the fan base, INCREDIBLE!!”
