Josh Widdicombe has discussed his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing amid claims he is to be offered a co-presenter role alongside Emma Willis.
The comedian, 43, has reportedly been offered a big-money deal to present the hit BBC show.
The Last Leg star told fans at his Not My Cup Of Tea show at London’s Hackney Empire on Friday: “I know how Strictly works.
“There’s always a s**t middle-aged bloke that makes everyone else look good.”
His quotes were reported by the Sun, and referred to his taking part in the 2024 Christmas special.
The newspaper reported he said: “If I was to sum up the age I have reached — I did the Strictly Christmas special two years ago.
“I had the worst day of my career. We all had to get up and do a group dance. All the big celebs were there — me, Nitro from Gladiators. All the biggies.
“We all started dancing and I realised I was the worst dancer. This wasn’t meant to happen.
“When I signed up I knew I would be fine because I know how Strictly works. There’s always a s**t middle-aged bloke that makes everyone else look good".
He also said: “I have started doing old people’s TV shows and attracting older audiences.”
The BBC and Widdecombe are yet to comment directly on the claims he has been offered the role.
The comedian is best known for his appearances on The Last Leg, Fighting Talk, Mock the Week and his BBC Three sitcom Josh.
The BBC is looking to fill the host roles after the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
A BBC spokesman said: “Plans for Strictly 2026 will be confirmed in due course.”
