Josh Taylor has been ordered to defend his super-lightweight world titles against Dominican boxer Alberto Puello amid the controversy surrounding his win against Jack Catterall. Last month, Taylor successfully defended his belts against Catterall but many felt the wrong decision was made by the judges.
It had almost seemed unanimous to everyone who had watched Catterall get the better of Taylor throughout the majority of the fight, that the Chorley boxer would be handed the victory. The challenger landed more significant strikes whilst also having a much better percentage of his jabs landed. He controlled the fight for the majority, and the result seemed to be assured when Taylor was docked a point.
However, Taylor was awarded the victory - leaving boxing fans across the globe in disgust. The result was the subject of an investigation by boxing authorities.

Robert Smith, the general secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, told Telegraph Sport that he had ordered a report into the scoring of judge Ian John-Lewis, who awarded the bout 114-111 in favour of Taylor.
Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren has since confirmed there will be no British judge involved in the Gypsy King's WBC heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April.
Fury was among many to voice his dismay at the result to award Taylor the victory against Catterall, saying: "I think the judging these days is a disgrace. They can't change the decision now and they've absolutely destroyed Jack Catterall's life and career. It's disgraceful."
Catterall has been adamant that he deserves a rematch but Taylor has been ordered to defend his belts against Puello. It is expected that he will forego the bout, and give up his belts. Therefore, Puello would fight an alternate opponent, with Ismael Barroso and Ohara Davies in line to face Puello for the belts.
Catterall stated that his 'dreams were stolen' after the decision went against him, before Taylor stated that he deserves his shot at the belts in his next bout. Taylor argued that he won the fight, but admitted it was a close decision.
