Suits: LA has added another talented actor to its cast. Josh McDermitt, known for his role in The Walking Dead, has joined the upcoming NBC pilot, which is a spinoff of the popular series Suits. McDermitt will be starring alongside Stephen Amell in this legal drama created by Aaron Korsh and produced by UCP.
In the show, McDermitt will portray Stuart Lane, a formidable attorney who runs a firm specializing in entertainment and criminal law with his close friend Ted Black, played by Amell. The series will revolve around Ted, a former New York prosecutor, as he navigates a critical moment in his firm, compelling him to embrace a role he has long disdained.
UCP, the studio behind the original Suits series, initiated the development of this spinoff in October. Following the immense success of Suits on Netflix, the spinoff found a home at NBC with a pilot order. The new show will exist in the same universe as Suits but will not initially feature any direct connections to the original series.
Josh McDermitt's previous work includes his role as Dr. Eugene Porter in The Walking Dead, spanning eight seasons. He has also appeared in acclaimed shows like Mad Men, Retired at 35, and The Loudest Voice. McDermitt is represented by Innovative Artists and Trademark Talent.
The executive producers of Suits: LA include Aaron Korsh, David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein, all of whom were involved in the production of the original Suits series. The pilot will be directed and executive produced by Victoria Mahoney and is scheduled to be filmed in Vancouver starting in late March.
