Josh Ginnelly admits Hearts chucked away third spot in the Premiership. But the Jambos striker was still delighted to keep Hibs in their place after sealing fourth.
The frontman shrugged off the bad blood between the sides following a pile on after the final whistle. And he was glad to hold Hibs off on the pitch with the point getting the job done. Ginnelly said: “We’re not really bothered, to be honest. We’ve got fourth, they ain’t. It was handbags, we’re not interested in that stuff. We’ve got it, they ain’t, so we’re delighted.
“It’s always going to be like that, there’s never much football played, it’s all about percentages and who can see the other team’s spell out better. We did that and thankfully we got fourth. Look, we threw away third, that’s just the honest truth.
“Today the full focus was on that fourth position. We’ve kicked ourselves in the teeth, but we have shown great character to come back and secure fourth.”
Ginnelly admitted he’s still unsure if he’ll be at Hearts next season. He said: “We’re still going through everything, it takes time, it’s not just a piece of paper.
“There’s so many little differences that need to get changed on my side or that the club wants to change. So it’s just negotiating, but it’s closer than it was.
“Look, my heart is here, I enjoy it here, I enjoy the boys, I have a great relationship with everyone. Since the first day I came here I have been shown the best of love. My heart is here. But I also have to make sure it’s right for me because it will be another two or three years away from my family unless I can get them up here.”
