Josh Campbell savours Hibs leveller but expresses disappointment after Rangers draw celebrations

Hibs midfielder Josh Campbell was delighted to net his first home goal - but admits a celebration pile-on left him a bit frustrated.

The box-to-box player lashed in an effort from outside the box to secure a 2-2 draw with Rangers in their latest Premiership match after the away side at Easter Road were reduced to 9 men. Martin Boyle had initially levelled for Hibs after James Tavernier put Rangers ahead but Campbell was needed to cancel out a Tom Lawrence header.

His teammates mobbed him but Campbell sensed an opportunity to score a winner with Hibs holding a two-man advantage. But he is satisfied enough with another point for manager Lee Johnson's team: “It was a crazy game. I was disappointed that my team-mates fell on top of me after I scored – because I wanted to get the winner! I didn’t catch the shot that cleanly.

"I was just happy to see it hit the back of the net. I’m a Hibs fan and I’ve always wanted to score for them. That’s my first league goal at Easter Road so I’m delighted.

“It’s hard playing against nine men and Rangers were good in that situation. But we could feel the momentum building from the fans and it’s a good result for us against a good team.

“I just remember it falling out the sky and a few people screaming for me to pass it. But I was always going to take the shot on."
