Josh Campbell says Aaron Mooy's Celtic opener set Hibs on the losing trail after an initially bright start against the champions.
Ange Postecoglou's men cut through Lee Johnson's side at will on their opponents' home soil as the Celtic manager's high intensity style of play came into full effect. Daizen Maeda's wonder goal doubled the advantage before Mooy netted again from the spot and Kyogo Furuhashi finished off a clinical showing which proved the deadly capabilities of Angeball.
Chris Cadden had it in the net for Hibs early doors but it was ruled offside and Paul Hanlon hit the post, with Campbell telling Hibs TV that the deadlock eventually being broken at the other end was their undoing. He explained: "I am disappointed. We started the game well and if we score in that first 10-15 minutes then it could’ve been a different story. Paul hit the post just before half-time and we went in 2-0 down.
"Celtic play at a high intensity, and I think the shock of us coming out the traps rattled them a little bit. But we needed to keep that intensity for the whole of the first half.
"Then it could’ve been a different story. The first goal was a killer blow and it was hard coming back from that.”
There's little time to dwell with the Edinburgh derby against Hearts coming next Monday. Campbell added: "It’s a massive game for us, and we’re all looking forward to it.”
