Jose Sa sends Wolves European aim warning to Newcastle ahead of St James' Park showdown

Jose Sa has been one of the stand-out players in the Premier League this season in his debut campaign in English football. His form has been the major factor behind Wolves’ push towards the European places and Bruno Lage will be hoping he has a similar impact when his side travel to St James’ Park on Friday evening.

The Magpies are the next opponents on Wolves’ end-of-season run in and could all-but bring an end to their fleeting hopes of a top-four finish. However, Sa has claimed that he and his team mates are going nowhere in their pursuit of a return to European competitions.

“Of course, I’m happy [with my form]. Of course, I want more. I have to want more. The most important is when I can help the team, that’s what I want, to help the team win the game,” he told the official Wolves website. “If I need to suffer two goals but win with three, I take two goals, because important is the three points, but if I can concede zero goals, I will do my best to do this.

“We are doing very well. We are fighting for the European competitions – that’s what we want, and we have to continue to fight – we will fight until the end.”

In spite of recent results, Newcastle – backed by a packed St James’ Park – will provide a tough test for Wolves and it should make for an exciting game on Tyneside under the lights. Eddie Howe will be desperate for his side to stop the poor run of results that has seen them get dragged somewhat back into the battle fight at the bottom.

There will be plenty of eyes from fans of the other Premier League teams on proceedings in the North-east on Friday night as, whatever the result at St James’ Park, it will have a huge impact on both the top and bottom ends of the table.
