Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly considering a move for Fred.
The 30-year-old could be one of several exits out of Old Trafford this summer as United look to operate within Financial Fair Play rules by using sales to fund arrivals. The Manchester Evening News understands that Fulham are interested in the midfielder.
The Brazilian ended up with six goals and assists apiece this season but started just half of his 56 outings, with just 12 coming in the Premier League. It’s thought Erik ten Hag prefers to keep hold of the younger Scott McTominay at age 26.
Mourinho has recruited a number of former Premier League talents at Roma, including ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and Nemanja Matic, once of United. Now, the Sun claims Mourinho has his eyes on Fred.

The Portuguese manager is said to be a Fred fan and has been given funds to facilitate pursuits for targets this summer with a Serie A title challenge in mind. The imminent arrival of Mason Mount is likely to see a current midfielder exit, most probably Fred who has just 12 months left on his United contract.
Meanwhile, a report from the i sensationally claims that United could make a U-turn on Dean Henderson and offer him the No.1 spot in place of David de Gea, even if the Spaniard signs a renewal.
As of Saturday, De Gea is out of contract although remains in talks with United over a fresh but reduced-terms deal. United’s tight budget - thought to be £120m at a maximum - could mean that United have to make-do with the goalkeepers at their disposal, the report says.
Henderson is set on joining Nottingham Forest permanently following last season’s loan after slamming United for their “criminal” treatment of him post Euro 2020 upon his initial switch to the City Ground.
However, with a striker also needed this summer, Ten Hag’s hand may be forced into convincing Henderson - currently back at Carrington recovering from thigh injury - into staying with the lure of first-choice status.
De Gea gets married on Saturday and United do not wish to intrude on private family time, so will re-open discussions face-to-face.
