- Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho brought printed images of controversial incidents to his post-match press conference following a 2-1 derby defeat against Atletico Madrid.
- Mourinho strongly criticised the officiating, claiming Atletico Madrid should have been shown two red cards in the first half, which would have altered the course of the match.
- The result leaves Real Madrid six points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona, compounding pressure on Mourinho after a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis earlier in the month.
- Mourinho stated he hoped the refereeing errors were simple mistakes while praising his team's pride, unity, and determination despite the difficult circumstances.
- Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone refused to engage in a dispute with Mourinho, stressing that coaches must show respect towards referees and colleagues.
