Jose Mourinho has sent a heartfelt message to Nemanja Matic after the Serbian midfielder announced that he would be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season.
Matic's contract is due to expire at the end of this campaign but the Reds did have an option to add another year should they choose. However, taking to Instagram on Good Friday, the 33-year-old confirmed his departure.
In the post, Matic said: "After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision.

"I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible." A wave of support came out for Matic on social media including from his former manager Mourinho.
In response to his announcement, the current AS Roma manager said: "Proud to be part of your history." Matic lifted the Premier League title under Mourinho's leadership back in the 2014/15 season before both men joined United.
