Jose Mourinho refused to be drawn on Manchester United's decision to appoint Erik ten Hag as their new manager, admitting that he had no advice to offer the Dutchman.
Ten Hag, following several months of speculation, was officially announced as United's new boss last week. The Dutchman will take charge ahead of the start of next season after signing a deal until the summer of 2025, with the option of an additional year.
The Ajax chief will be tasked with overseeing an expected summer of upheaval and transformation upon his arrival at Old Trafford, as the club looks to try and put a forgettable 2021-22 campaign behind them. Big changes need to be made to the overall structure and philosophy of the club, as well as to the first-team squad.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013, United have failed to get anywhere close to the heights they reached during his tenure, meaning Ten Hag will be hoping to succeed where others have failed. Mourinho, of course, has managed United since Ferguson retired, occupying the managerial hot seat between 2016 and 2018.
Having managed the club for more than two years and won three trophies during that time, the Portuguese chief, who is now in charge of Roma, could have been prepared to offer some advice to Ten Hag about what lies ahead. However, he refused to say too much on United's decision to appoint the Ajax chief.
"You touched the point, my former club," said Mourinho, speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Roma's clash with Leicester City in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening. "Not my club. I don't have any advice."
Delivering a typical, unsurprising Mourinho response, the former United boss, replying to the journalist who had asked the question, wagged his finger, suggesting that he had no interest in talking about his old club. He was sacked by United in December 2018, following a defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.
