Jose Mourinho hatches Chelsea transfer plan as Man United wait on Harry Kane decision

Chelsea's search for a striker will continue into the summer transfer window as the Blues struggle to find a centre-forward that will provide them with goal scoring threat. Alvaro Morata, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are all examples of big money signings in the position that haven't quite worked for the west London outfit.

January saw the side fail to add another option in the position, but Graham Potter defended the decision, referring the previous signings that have struggled. "I don't know whether this was the case but from the outside," The manager said on the transfer window and striker problems.

"It seemed Chelsea had a problem with scoring goals and they spent close to £100million on a number nine [Romelu Lukaku] who was meant to fix the problem. As far as I can see, it didn't fix the problem."

Perhaps the answer all along was closer to home as academy star Tammy Abraham has impressed since moving to AS Roma with Jose Mourinho. Last season saw the England international regularly score, though this season has been something of a struggle in comparison.

The Blues hold a clause that could allow Abraham to return, with Sky in Italy reporting that moving to the Premier League this summer seems almost certain for the striker. Chelsea aren't the only interested party though as it is claimed that Manchester United are also in the race.

The Red Devils will only move for Abraham if they cannot land Tottenham star Harry Kane though, meaning that any move for Chelsea may depend on many moving parts. It remains to be seen how the saga pans out over the summer, but it could be one with plenty of twists and turns.
