A major UFC bantamweight bout is in the works.

Top contenders Jose Aldo and Merab Dvalishvili are expected to collide Aug. 20 at UFC 278. The event takes place at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.

Two people with knowledge of the booking informed MMA Junkie of the targeted matchup Tuesday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. The matchup was first reported by MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.
