A year after Las Hijas de la Señora García became one of TelevisaUnivision's biggest recent telenovela successes, producer José Alberto Castro has confirmed that the story isn't over.
While promoting his upcoming drama Tierra de Amor y Coraje, starring Sofía Castro, Castro revealed in an exclusive to this reporter that viewers can expect the hit series to return, offering the strongest indication yet that a follow-up is already in the works.
Asked directly whether audiences would see another installment, the veteran producer answered with a smile.
"Very soon," Castro said.
When pressed for more details, he remained tight-lipped but made it clear that the show's central family will continue to play a major role.
"I don't think the daughters can be left out, especially Aunt Ofe," he added, referencing one of the telenovela's most beloved characters.
The confirmation comes after months of speculation among fans of Las Hijas de la Señora García, which became one of TelevisaUnivision's breakout dramas. The adaptation of the Turkish series Mrs. Fazilet and Her Daughters followed Ofelia García, an ambitious mother determined to use the beauty of her daughters to lift the family out of poverty.
The melodrama, starring María Sorté, Oka Giner, Ela Velden, Brandon Peniche, and Emmanuel Palomares, quickly became a ratings success in Mexico and generated strong engagement across streaming and social media, helping cement it as one of the network's standout productions.
Several actors from that hit have reunited with Castro for Tierra de Amor y Coraje: Peniche and Palomares.The producer admitted that working with Peniche and Palomares again was intentional after seeing the chemistry they developed on Las Hijas de la Señora García.
"When we worked together before, there was great chemistry and a willingness to work," Castro said. "There are actors who like being actors, and there are actors who truly enjoy the work that comes with it. Brandon and Emmanuel are among those people, and ever since then I wanted to do another story with them."
Castro said the only reason the reunion didn't happen sooner was because he first had to complete another production before moving on to Tierra de Amor y Coraje.
Interestingly, Peniche and Palomares themselves appeared unaware that another chapter of Las Hijas de la Señora García had effectively been confirmed.
During separate interviews conducted the same day on the set of Tierra de Amor y Coraje, neither actor indicated that a continuation had been greenlit, making Castro's comments the first public acknowledgment from someone directly overseeing the project, but couldnt hide there excitement. "I am ready whenever he is," said Palomares.
He also talked about choosing his daughter Sofía Castro as the leading female actress in Tierra de amor y coraje, a posibility that had been on his radar long before casting began.
According to Castro, he had always envisioned giving the actress a leading role once she was ready.
"What gave me the most confidence was seeing how prepared she arrived, her commitment and everything she does for her work," he said, praising her professionalism and the natural chemistry she already shared with Peniche and Palomares.
While fans wait for official details about the return of Las Hijas de la Señora García, Castro is focused on launching Tierra de Amor y Coraje, a Western-inspired melodrama filmed in Arizona.
The producer said choosing Arizona was essential because the landscape itself functions as another character in the story, while also reflecting TelevisaUnivision's growing effort to tell stories that resonate with Latino audiences on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.
For now, Castro isn't revealing when production on the next chapter of Las Hijas de la Señora García will begin or which cast members will officially return.
But after months of speculation, his message to fans was unmistakable: the García family isn't finished yet.
