Jorginho makes surprise Man City claim as Arsenal keep title hopes alive with win vs Newcastle

Jorginho has surprisingly admitted that he won't be watching Manchester City's games to see if Arsenal's title rivals drop points.

Mikel Arteta's side secured a vital 2-0 victory away to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, a result that brought them within one point of league-leaders City, albeit the reigning champions have played one less game than the north Londoners. However, Italian international Jorginho has claimed that he isn't paying attention to the Citizens' form.

When asked if he thinks City are feeling the pressure following the Gunners' result on Sunday, the former Chelsea midfielder told the Evening Standard: "To be honest, I don’t know. I will be honest with you, I am not watching their games - because if we don’t win here, it doesn’t matter.

"As long as we are winning, we are doing our part. At the end, we are going to see what happens. We don’t know [what will happen]. We know what we can do and we need to focus on that.

"Then they have their things to do and they have things to think. That’s it."

Next up for Arsenal is a home fixture against Brighton on Sunday, with City taking on Everton at Goodison Park a couple of hours prior. The Toffees secured a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium in the reverse fixture, something the north Londoners will be hoping they can match, or even better, this time around.
