Jorge Masvidal claims UFC rival Conor McGregor is "too scared" after pigeon-brain jibe

Jorge Masvidal is convinced Conor McGregor is either "too scared or too stupid" to accept a fight with him.

Masvidal drew McGregor's interest earlier this week when he protested his innocence after he was arrested following an alleged attack on bitter rival Colby Covington in March. Masvidal admitted he can't say much on the matter after facing three felony charges, but vowed to never let anyone disrespect his family and get away with it.

McGregor responded to Masvidal's comments, writing: "An absolute pigeon brain this guy is. Stupid beyond belief". 'Gamebred' has now fired back at the Irishman, replying: "This pea brain is the biggest fight of your life. So you’re either too scared or too stupid to get this check."

Talks of a fight between McGregor and Masvidal have been discussed for years, with UFC president Dana White dismissing the match-up because of the disparity in weight between the pair. The fight seems more plausible now after McGregor has bulked up to 190lb since his leg injury and plans a comeback at welterweight.

Masvidal promised to "give everything" to kill McGregor in a potential fight, telling told ESPN Deportes : "He is false. He knows that I am a man who hits hard and that I come to kill. I do not come to hug in the cage. I am going to give everything inside me to kill him. I have a little size but he is still a little boy.

"I would love to fight at 170lb, but I don’t wait for anyone. If he wants to do it, I’ll break his face. If he doesn’t want to do it, let someone come next. There are options, but the first thing that matters is me – to be in the best condition of my life, to improve the fight.

"This year, I’ll guarantee a return. I don’t know the date yet. I think that with two fights, I can be in contention for the title or in a title contender fight.”

Both McGregor and Masvidal find themselves on losing streaks in the UFC. McGregor was beaten twice by Dustin Poirier last year whilst Masvidal is without a win since capturing the 'BMF' title against Nate Diaz in 2019.

Masvidal's agent Malki Kawa has previously claimed his team reached out McGregor several times about a fight with 'Gamebred', but UFC matchmaker Hunter Campbell told them McGregor turned it down.
