LAS VEGAS – Despite back-to-back results not going his way, UFC middleweight Jordan Wright’s confidence has reached a new high.
On the main card of UFC Fight Night 212 at the UFC Apex, Wright (12-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) will look to get back in the win column against Dusko Todorovic (11-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC). Wright’s ride in the UFC has been a bumpy one thus far, but “The Beverly Hills Ninja” has found the lessons learned during his journey well worth it.
“The progression has been perfect,” Wright told reporters including MMA Junkie at Wednesday’s media day. “You know, I’ve been tested, I’ve had some wins, I’ve had some losses, but that’s just life. They taught me a lot of great things.
“I’m certainly not one to wallow in defeat. I’m always back in the gym no matter what happens. These past two fights have been an amazing learning experience for me, and I’m the best me that I’ve ever been. It’s my time now, it’s my time.”
In prior bouts, Wright said he entered fight week in a bad mood, drained, and running on fumes before stepping into the cage. After dropping his second-straight bout to Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC Fight Night 205 in April, Wright changed his approach while sharpening his skills in the gym.
This time around, he feels more energetic thanks to working closely with a mental coach and a dietician, and is eager to compete for the second time in 2022 feeling like a more complete fighter.
“Now I feel like I’m on the upper cosmic playing field of everything right now,” Wright said. “I’m ready to go. Physically I feel great, mentally I feel great. My skills are always there, so now we’ll be able to see me at my fullest.”
