It’s been an overall forgettable weekend for Jordan Spieth at the PGA Championship, but he made one shot he isn’t likely to forget for a while.
During Saturday’s Round 3 from Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Spieth — who entered the day at 1-over for the tournament — faced a difficult shot No. 2 on the par 4 12th hole.
His initial drive was quite a bit offline, leaving him well into the rough on the left side 120 yards out from the hole. He opted to punch out, as he was surrounded by tree cover, and what happened next was nothing short of spectacular.

It looked like Spieth was doomed to take a penalty as his shot went straight toward the water. But instead of sinking to the bottom, the ball miraculously skipped off the surface of the water and back into the field of play, leaving Spieth sitting high and dry just 32 yards away from the hole.
He finished the hole with a bogey, but he was able to channel his inner magician and kept things from getting significantly worse.
It was a high moment in an overall poor round for Spieth. His bogey on 12 was his second of the day in addition to a double bogey on the first hole. After a three-putt bogey on No. 6, it was clear the frustration got to him.

As of publishing, he sits in a tie for 35th overall at 2-over for the day and 3-over for the tournament. But on the other hand, he also did this earlier in the round.
