Jordan Pickford rewarded for form as Everton stars nominated for Fans' Footballer of the Year

With 2022 coming to a close, it’s time for you to vote for who you think has been Everton’s footballer of the year.

It’s been a tough 12 months for the Toffees, following last season’s relegation escape and this season’s poor start, with the club aiming to push on and climb the table after the World Cup break.

However, ECHO writers have picked out four players who put in positive showings over the past year - with one needing your vote to become Everton Fans' Footballer of the Year for 2022.

Jordan Pickford

The Everton shot-stopper is currently out in Qatar with the England squad, a place richly deserved for his club form in the past year.

Pickford has been outstanding in 2022, producing several key moments including his ‘save of the season’ against Chelsea last term as well as an incredibly impressive performance against Liverpool.

These displays have also seen manager Frank Lampard hand him the captain’s armband on several occasions, emphasising his status as one of the key men in the squad.

Alex Iwobi

The re-emergence of Alex Iwobi has been one of the Toffees’ few success stories this season.

Once unable to get a game at Goodison Park, the Nigerian scored a 100th-minute winner against Newcastle last season and started to win fans back with his versatile performances.

Since then, he has managed five assists and a goal in 15 games, becoming one of the league’s most creative midfielders.

Anthony Gordon

Breaking into the team as a regular last season, the young forward has emerged as one of Frank Lampard’s most important attacking threats.

Three goals so far this term, Gordon has often been asked to lead the line for the Toffees and has impressed out of position.

A call-up to England Under-21s was a reward for his efforts, as well as transfer interest from the likes of Chelsea, and it will be up to the club to help him reach his potential.

Richarlison

He may not be a part of the Everton squad this season, but it’s hard to underestimate the Brazilian’s efforts in the last campaign.

A consistent goal threat, important strikes against Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Leicester were crucial to his side’s season and helped to drag the club away from the relegation zone.

A move for Champions League football was unfortunately expected this time around but it’s fair to say that the club may have been looking at Championship football without him last season.
