Jordan Hicks leaves Saints game early in the first quarter

The Minnesota Vikings poor luck with the injury bug continues, as linebacker Jordan Hicks has been taken to the medical tent.

Hicks appeared to collide with teammate Cam Bynum while attempting to tackle New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara on an 8-yard run in the first quarter. Hicks stayed in for one play, then went down on the next play, a short pass to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, who was tackled by Byron Murphy, Jr.

Hicks has been the lifeblood of the Vikings linebacker corps this season, and arguably the entire defense. With Hicks out, the brunt of the work will fall on undrafted free agent rookie Ivan Pace. Pace has played well this season, but will have a lot more responsibility in the Brian Flores’-coached defense in Hicks’ absence.

Good news for the Vikings, as Hicks was seen warming up on the sideline.

We’ll have more information on this injury as it becomes available.
