Jordan Henderson posts hospital bed photo after surgery on ‘completely smashed’ forearm

  • Jordan Henderson sustained a serious arm injury during post-match celebrations following England's 3-2 victory over Mexico in the World Cup last-16.
  • The injury occurred when Henderson, an unused substitute, slipped while attempting to leap over an advertising board, landing awkwardly and requiring immediate medical attention.
  • His father later clarified to the Daily Mail that Henderson had “completely smashed” his forearm, not just broken his wrist, and he has since undergone successful surgery at the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute, with the midfielder posting a photo of him with his thumb up from his hospital bed.
  • Despite being ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to the injury, Henderson has rejoined the England squad in Kansas City, where he will continue to provide his valuable experience and presence in the dressing room.
  • Henderson had previously made history in the tournament by becoming the first England player to feature in four World Cups, coming on as a substitute against Panama.
