King Abdullah of Jordan has condemned Israel's actions, labeling them as a dangerous escalation that could potentially lead to a broader conflict in the region. During a call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Abdullah emphasized the urgent need for international efforts to prevent further escalation.
Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, has called on the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to address what he described as Israeli aggression. Safadi warned that Israel's actions are pushing the region towards a comprehensive regional war and highlighted the failure of the international community to uphold its laws and values.
Safadi pointed out that the Israeli airstrikes violate the 2006 Security Council Resolution 1701, which called for a permanent ceasefire and an end to hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel. He emphasized the need for world leaders convening at the United Nations General Assembly in New York to address the escalating situation.
In response to the heightened tensions, the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority has announced the suspension of Jordanian flights to Beirut until further notice. The decision was made in light of the regional instability caused by the recent events.
