Steph Curry lost control of the basketball with seconds remaining on the clock Thursday night.
That turnover cemented a loss for the Golden State Warriors against the Sacramento Kings. Had Curry created space and put up a shot, he could have helped his team secure its second straight win.
When speaking to the media after the game, Jonathan Kuminga defended Curry’s mistake. The surging third-year forward accepted that mistakes can happen. He chose to remind everybody that Curry is one of the greatest players in history, so you trust the ball in his hands during late-game situations.
“Things happen,” Kuminga said. “We’re human. We make mistakes. That’s one of the greatest to ever touch a basketball. Everybody makes mistakes. It’s just something maybe we can work on to prevent it from happening in the next game. But, every body makes mistakes.”
Outside of that costly mistake, Curry enjoyed a strong game for the Warriors. He ended the contest with 33 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, shooting 50% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range.
Curry’s turnover will undoubtedly be a frustrating moment for him. As such, we should expect a bounce-back performance when he suits up for Golden State’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
