H&W Welders are gunning for a promotion play-off spot this year and loan signing Jonny Frazer believes his goals can fire Gary Smyth’s side to their aim.
Frazer has joined the East Belfast club on a loan deal from Crusaders for the remainder of the season in what was one of the most eye-catching moves of the January transfer window.
Counting Linfield, Ballymena and Glentoran among his former clubs, the forward began starring in the top-flight as a teenager in 2015 and now, aged 25, believes he can make the difference.
Frazer told Match on Tuesday: “There is no doubt in my mind that I have the ability to be playing regularly in the top-flight and scoring goals.
“I have always had a desire to be playing football – I’m not happy to not be playing and that is why I have had various loan deals in my career, because I want to be on the pitch.
“I want to get back to enjoying my football again – it is a great feeling to look forward to Saturdays again.
“This season at the Crues I was in and out of the team, but now I know that I can play and get a chance to make an impact.”
Frazer netted the decisive goal for Gary Smyth’s side in Friday night’s win over Ballyclare; the Welders third victory in a row and their fourth from their last five games.
Despite sitting in fifth spot, they are just one point off second and firmly in the promotion mix – in what could be a stunning achievement in the same season they moved into their new Blanchflower Stadium home.
“It was a really tough night in difficult conditions against a team like Ballyclare, so we are all just delighted to get another three points,” added Frazer.
“Obviously its great to get on the scoresheet and especially when its your first goal for the club, but the fact that it was decisive in helping a great defensive performance and winning three points was brilliant.
“It has been so easy for me to come in and settle into the squad, because I had a lot of good friends already at the club – and they are a winning team at the moment.
“The professionalism on and off the pitch has been so impressive and I’m excited for the final few months of the season.
“If this club gets into the top flight, they would be backed to the hilt – and they can make the most of the football hotbed of East Belfast.
“The potential is there for the Welders to be a big force.”
